Evening Maktab: Islamic Education

Day by day it is becoming more obvious that the one and only way that will bring the entire mankind to solace, comfort and prosperity is by building a strong foundation among the youth of our communities . An important and key element in this awakening process is the establishment of institutions of higher Islamic learning. The Maktab Program will provide our youth with the true and practical essence of Islam.

What is a Maktab?

In the medieval Islamic world, an elementary school was known as a maktab, which dates back to at least the 10th century. Maktabs were often attached to a Masjid and their emergence played a fundamental role in the relatively high literacy rates during the golden age of the Islamic world and helped drive the inventions and educational developments that Muslims are accredited with today. Traditionally, Maktabs focused on guiding children in reading, writing, grammar and Islamic subjects.
